"Language does not exist apart from thought, and thought does not exist apart from language; they are one and the same."
James Berlin--Rhetoric and Reality
For this month's topic, a student committee has chosen to discuss the language of film. We will consider this "discussion group" an experiment, and I will leave it up to your invention and energy to push the conversation into stimulating territory. As I moderate this conversation, however, I will challenge you to maintain an energy of "critical thinking". Rather than just discuss whether a film was "good" or "bad", or whether we should all go out and watch a specific film, this discussion should be committed to a spirit of investigation.
Throughout your discussion, I will suggest a few questions for you to consider, but you are not obligated to answer them. Simply use the questions as an opportunity to deepen the analysis and your conversation.
Finally, read the above quote by literary theorist and historian, James Berlin. As you begin your discussion of movies, you may describe the stories, the action, the conflicting elements, but remember that you are considering an art form that uses "symbolic language". This visual language of film contains immense power to capture and maintain the audience's attention, but also communicates vital information about the realities of our world... or, the illusions of reality. In your discussion, consider what reality is being reflected. Consider how the central conflicts of film represent aspects of our world, sometimes social, other times political, perhaps psychological, or frequently revealing our inner conflicts, our desires, hopes and dreams. Whatever the thematic direction, allow yourself to branch out and take risks as you consider the implications of the content and the deeper layers of meaning.
While you share your valuable thoughts, please maintain an atmosphere of community and support. We are attempting to develop an "academic" approach to a frequently "unacademic" medium. In other words, you can disagree, but respect each other's opinion. Most important, continue to ask yourself: What is the language of film?

The language of film for me is a powerful way of communication. The use of images and language capture the mine of the viewers and take them to explore the world. A world that is unknown for many and repeatedly seen and lived for others. Through films viewers can find out about other countries’ cultures, behaviors, and habits. The language of film could be fiction and nonfiction even thought many viewers can not see the difference. For some viewers it is a way to escape from reality; a time to dream or it could be just a simple distraction. Some others identify themselves with the characters living the movies and thinking that they are spider man or Cinderella. It could be also a life lesson for someone who thinks that life is unfair. In the language of film, the combination of words and images make the perfect match to capture viewer’s attention. Viewers are not just listening, but they are seeing what is going on through the films. These two elements make viewers live the scenes involving their feelings and emotions.
Hi everyone!!!! I just saw a movie where the enormous desire to survive and fight for what someone wants was reflected. I witness that the experiences living through a life can make someone a millionaire or just a simple human being passing by. When I say millionaire, I am not just talking about those who have the fortune to have money, but those who have the fortune to have love. Have you seen this movie or some other that impact your life? Perhaps you see a funny one or any other that you would like to share?
I saw the movie the Milk. Is a movie that is base on a true story. And the way guy men and had no right because they where homosexual. This movie had language a lot of it. I enjoy watching this movie and I think you guys should watch it.
The language of film have several ways of motivation, signs, meanings of movies. Each movie can have a hidden message that can motivate us audience or can change our view of anything. I recently saw Max Payne and man that movie was AWESOME!. It's about never quitting to solve the murder especially when the homicide is your wife and daughter murder in cold blood. This man "Max Payne," fought, killed and broke the law to find the murderer. I dont want to kill the movie for those who want to watch it. However, it's meaning is to never quit and their's always answer to solve a murder case. Films take you into another world where it makes you think outside the box. This movie impacted me in a positive way because I tend to quit but then I question myself why am I still stuck here living the life of a bum. But then again quitting is not what I should do. I should do what Max Payne did and always strive and do my best to find my answers in life. Just like he did.I Recommed people to watch this movie.
The language of film can be able to communicate anything to anybody. A movie can be so much more than just entertainment it can also help people in different ways and even provide hope or motivate someone to reach for what they want to accomplish.
Okay okay okay. Good first run at this topic. But where is everyone? Let's start looking at what people are saying. Find a way to respond. Pull out a line of text from a post and figure out how to chew on it. For example. What about that Max Payne? What about Who Wants to be a Millionaire? What is the point of these stories? How do these myths feed our language? Our self image? Our communities? The way we place ourselves in relationship to our families, our workplace, the moves that we make each day to reach towards our goals?
The language of film for me is a powerful way of communication and it symbolizes things that you never thought of. The use of images and language help others how the world FUCNTIONS or how the to see the world in many ways.for example in the movie "The Da Vinci Code" has so many imagery that viewers need to really concentrate well, in order to get the idea. for example in that movie it obviously relates with language, with the bible, the secret codes and etc.
In my point of view a movie has there own main idea the characters which are the actors capture the viewers attention and intrigue them to watch the movie. Movies include action, suspense, horror, romance which fit in into the viewers interest. Over The weekend I decided to watch this movie Marly and me and this was my summary.
Is it possible for this couple to discover the key to happiness through a dog with chaos ?
John and Jenny were just beginning their life together as a couple. They were young and in love, with a perfect little house. Then they brought home Marley, a puppy. Life would never be the same. Marley quickly grew into a big, ninety seven pound Labrador retriever, a dog like no other. He crashed through screen doors, drooled all over the guests, stole women's undergarments, and ate nearly everything he could get his mouth around, including couches and jewelry. Obedience school did no good,Marley was expelled. Neither did the tranquilizers the veterinarian prescribed. And yet Marley's heart was big and pure. Marley shared the couple's joy at their first pregnancy, and their heartbreak over the miscarriage.
There was this movie I had watched in High school. My English professor showed it in class. The movie was a foreign film, but had many factors about life to learn from. Aside from the no subtitle option, this movie showed many different languages as well as the cultures. This movie was trying to show the culture of the motherland of China. Even though many of us who don’t understand any Chinese dialect, you can somewhat understand the conversations the characters are talking about through their body movement and actions. Culture played a very important part because the Chinese culture is unique and different just like all the other cultures in the world. So I believe that, “The Language of Film” is very important because you can learn so much about a culture just by the movie you watch.
the language of film can be interpet in many different ways by different people that live in many different country . the language of flim desribes current events that happen in the world or in the news.
i saw the movie the last house on the left. this movie had many problems and more problems. which the main character had to have a positive attitude. the language in this movie made me explore a world with danger of something that can happen to any careless teen going to a stranger hotel. through out the movie i learn a little about the main characters and how they feel what is going on in their lives, also the setting of where they come from gives you a feel of them to. like the mother had her own business and the father was a doctor they are very important people that had a lot of things to do, and the daughter was a great swimmer. this movie express more of the feeling of the family because they had lost their son. so they want to be careful with there daughter. when the movie got to the craziness i felt like i was right there with them. movies are an escape because you learn so much about characters that you feel for them. i cried but thats because im a baby i always cry.
The movie I saw is called "Slumdog Millionare", It is the story of Jamal a young orphan boy who grew up in the slums of Mumbai. He experienced a very crude life during his childhood and adolescence with his young brother Salim. At his young age, he witness the cruelty, hatred, and many other unfairnesses, but the power of love kept him alive to follow through and find the love of his life, a beautiful young indian woman called Latika. He has been everywhere and seing everything in Bumbai. He was one of those living in the strees, catching the sun, the snow, and the rain, the light, and the dark. In his enourmous desire to se Latika, he decided to participate in a television show called "Who Want to be a Millionaire" hopping Latika to see him knowing from before that she likes the show.
It is incredible how this stories sometimes can be reflected in someone's life. I believe every human being fights battles in life, and the importance of this battles depends on how much meaning they have for each of us.
The life of Jamal and Salim, the two brother who play in the movie, impacted me. Two young hearts fiting to survive in the most dark ignorant society where everybody sees and cares for their own good. This movie have a lot of themes of discussion. For instance, here there are these two brothers living in any direccion the wind flows surviving an extreme style of life and all for what? what would these two young boys expect from life? where they looking for a change is their lives? Perhaps they got lost in the way and they were looking for themselves? what makes a person to do not give up and keep going in life especially when people live in a very hard situation? I thing love as a lot to do with the answer to these questions. What do you think? I seek for life everyday hopping to see what I did not see yesterday, Hopping to reach what I did not reach yesterday, hopping to accomplish what I did not accomplish yesterday, hopping to love and be love, and hopping to dream and keep dreaming.
What makes you go on in life when you are facing a hard time? did you give up or you keep going?
Hi Sandy, I read your comment about the movie "Marly and me". It seems insteresting. Why the couple were not happy? What was missing in their lives that a dog came to change and turn in them to discover the key of happiness?
Hi knucklez666, thanks for sharing "Max Payne" I have not seen this movie but I believe it has a great message. You are right. Each movie can have a hidden message that can motivate us or can change our lives. But I consider important to check this messages very carefuly because sometimes they can be negative and very persuasives. They can take someone out of reality and lose focus.Braking the law and kill seems to be ok in the movies because this gives more impact to the story and also gives a sense of great strengh, but it could be taken as negative if a viewer want to put it in practice in the real world. I am glad this movie impacted you in a positive way and make a great impact in your life. I love your sentence about "always strive and do your best to find your answers in life" AWESOME!
Hi cb7forme, underestanding the characters conversations in a film through their body movements and actions is something I experience before. It is completely true. I used to watch a lot of foreign movies without any subtitles. I need it to watch the characters movements and actions in order to underestand what's going on. It is very interesting because as you said, each culture is unique and different. Movements, actions, pictures, objects, sounds, tones, and even effects are an spectacular way of communication in a film. These elements tell a lot about a particular culture specially when you have never hear about. The sound of the character voices are in your imagination and you are the driver and you are who decide how far to go.
The language of film could be interpret in many different ways. I'm not a big movie watcher, but the movies I've seen like Saving Private Ryan changed my mind, I wanted to join the military when I was a senior at high, but this movie capture my attention and made me feel like if I was in the movie. Once I finished watching the movie it made me change mind in joining the military. The way the movie was made was very realistic, and it also made you feel scared when they were in combat and how the soldiers suffer during that war. Film language is a powerful way in communication is a way to tell and show people in something particular.
im not a big movie watcher either but when i do watch movies that have alot of twist and turns i tend to get easily confused. So i end up not getting the movie. But as for watching army movies like richard, i have had that experience as well. i wanted to join the army in the beggining of high school but the same movie saving private ryan made me realize how wars are fought. How they film the movie and make them so realistic made me change my mind as well. Movies that are comedy based such as "pineapple express" basically just make you want to get high and be on drugs which of course is everybodys choice to follow what movies are based on. I remember watching a movie named "taken" which was about a man who desperately went to paris to look for the kidnappers who took his daughter. His strategies were so unique and highly skilled that he ended up finding his daughter. This relates to the movie "max payne" which knucles talked about. And having the same message of never giving up, each morning having to wake up for school, i encourage myself not to give up on what is important for my life. So i tend to try and watch movies that i can easily get.
Hey Paloma I got your comment. I got what you trying to say about positive and negative hidden messages throughout movies. however, i believe that movies never have negative messages because I never seen a movie where the bad guy wins. If anything Its either revenge or missions from the Army. But for Max Payne which i dont want to kill the movie for you, Its nothing personal its just REVENGE!!! watch it. I ganrantee you will like.
Whats up Juan, Hey Army was a thing i wanted to do but watching the movies made me realize. Damn I aint trying to get shot by no dirty azz terorist you feel me. But Army movies are telling us about the many men and women who protect us from these terrorist that have given us bad times before. As for Pineapple Express man that movie was so funny that it makes me laugh at them not do drugs. other people probably took it the other way but thats because their taking it literally and their are simply just CrAckBABIES. But YEah ima stick to Max Payne qiving up isnt an option. Stand wats right and if anything revenge is always sweet when something bad has happened to you.
I agree wit u guys because i have to agree that the movie saving private ryan is not only a very good movie but it can also touch you in ways u didnt expect. for example one of us said that after watching that movie it changed their entire aspect about joining the army because it was able to give them a real look at the way fighting in a war is very dangerous. Its just one of those type of movies that can relate to the viewers and can send a message to the viewer. This just shows how strong the language of film can be.
Sometimes, hero stories, like "private ryan" and others, force me to look beyond the good guys and bad guys and, instead, consider the "other". Most of our heroes are battling the "other", which, in most cases is part of who we are. Flag waving aside, aren't we all Germans and terrorists and lovers and heroes? Think about "Star Wars" and how the hero of that movie is battling the "dark side" inside himself.
Paloma, I think that what you said in the beginning of the discussion is totally true the media is a form of language. Some films are done for a reason may be to show some life experiences, or even to share lessons the learned. I do believe film is a way of language.
So I just watched um....Nick & Norah's Infinite Play list on DVD. So this movie is so awesome it made me laugh and grossed me out too. So basically this movie is about two teens. The guy who plays Nick is nursing a broken heart because he got cheated on and dumped. Then we have Norah is questioning pretty much all of her assumptions about the world. When they meet they really don’t have anything in common, but what brings them together is the taste in music they both have. So then they encounter leads to an all-night quest to find a legendary band's secret show and ends up becoming the first date in a romance that could change both their lives. So have any of u seen this movie its really awesome well to me. Well I think “The Language of Film” is to me that films are kind of like books well duh, either they are telling a story or sending out a message.
HEY GUYS,
WELL HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THIS MOVIE CALLED "DOWNFALL" ITS GERMAN MOVIE AND ITS ABOUT THE LAST DAYS OF HITLER. THIS MOVIE IS REALLY GOOD, BUT I MEAN EXCELLENT. THE ACTOR THAT DOES HITLER, LOOKS EXACTLY THE SAME AS HITLER. ITS ABOUT HOW THE RUSSIANS ARE HEADING TOWARDS HILTERS BUNKER AND HTILER AND THE NAZI'S HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO DEFEND THERE COUNTRY. ONCE HITLER KNOWS THAT HIS CLOSE TO HIS DEAFEAT, HE HAS NO CHOICE BUT TO COMMIT SUCIDE, WITH SOME OF HIS TOP COMMANDERS. I REALLY RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE BECAUSE IT HAS ALOT OF HISTORY TO IT.
ITS REALLY INTERESTING HOW MOVIES RELATE TO THE PAST ABOUT CERTAIN IMPORTANT EVENTS. FOR EXAMPLE, WE ALL WERENT BORN AT THE TIME OF WW2. IN ORDER TO SEE WHAT HAPPEN WE HOW TO RELATE TO BOOKS, EVEN MOVIES, SO SEE, OR HAVE AN IDEA WHAT HAPPEN. SOMETIMES MOVIES MKAES YOU FEEL THAT YOUR ACTUALLY THERE BACK IN TIME, AND MAKES YOU WONDER WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF YOU WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF WAR. THATS WHY I SAY MOVIES HAVE A GREAT IMPACT ON SOMEONES LIFE AT TIMES BECAUSE IT RELATES HOW THINGS WERE IN THE PAST.

Hey guys!
I watched a movie called american pie 2 and it's about young adults experiencing their first year in college. Many typical teenagers think that once they see this movie, our viewers(teenagers) might possibly try to copy what the movie happened. In real life many teenagers try to attempt to do the same thing in the movie, but things change as years progress.
It's true that once you're in college, your life will change but whatever you do in the past will not...
there are so many choices to make, but there's only one option to fulfill that path.
this movie helps teenagers expect what's going to happen in college and expect what to do in order to prevent whatever in making it happen.
The language of film helps us feel like we're in the movie, but were really not. It only catches our attention in order to get prepared to what we're going to face.
I agree with SaVing Private Ryan, going to the army was my last resort when I watched that movie.
But lets say the movie "8 mile."
It's about a young man navigating his way through many worlds. His survival was to rap through the urban and suburban cities where many black and white people are in that area. That area is Detroit. The people in Detroit knows that the 8 mile road is known as the city's perimeter. This young rapper struggles to find his voice and he manage to survive, and rap for money in underground hardware buildings just to help his little sister survive in that environment. That's a movie where somebody is pursuing their dream and survival of the fittess.
The language of film shows us viewers feel like we're in the movie, feel like we're in the movie, and helps us feel the experience of the film.
HEY, I THINK THAT "THE LANGUAGE OF FILM" IS A TYPE OF LANGUAGE. FOR INSTACE THE "SIMPSONS MOVIE" IS ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING AND HOW WE NEED TO BE MORE CAREFULL IN THE DECISIONS WE MAKE TODAY,SO IN FUTURE WE WONT HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. I THINK THIS IS A TYPE OF LANGUAGE THAT IS TRYING TO MAKE US THINK IN A MORE SUFISTICATED WAY.
i think that the language of film is a way to express someone's emotions or to show what is going on in the real world. i recently watch a movie called walking tall. this movie shows how this guy comes home from the army for good. once he is at home he noticed that there has been lots of changes in his town which are not good at all. the reason he came back home is because of the mill. He noticed that they built a casino and they were bad guys. These guys are selling drugs to some teenagers. One of the teenagers is Chris's nephew. now chris wants to make changes back to how it was. chris decides to take care of it himself. this shows that there are bad guys out there influencing kids with drugs. not only that but there is also a lot of violence as well.
Hi cle_ceron, I saw that movie a while ago. It caught my attention how Chris, the main character, opt for not use guns at the beginning of the movie to fight the bad guys, and how later he feels force to. It reflects how everything in life has limitations, and if it is necesary to show more strength on adversities; we should. Although I hate violence, I underestand that sometimes we need to be strong and use some other resources to stop it. I can not take action on my own, but I can fight back in so many other ways. I compared Chris action as the war. I do not think soldiers wants to kill any human being, but they are trained to fight and protect our nation and give us security. However, it is hard for me to underestand how some people, specially people in armies or police officers are being force to bear their arms in order to safe somebody else life. It is so complex to me to conceive how killing sometimes means surviving.
Hi r1ch4rdo9, I like the perseption you have on movies. I agree with you movies like "American Pie 2" can be taken as a bad role model specially if it is about tenegers, and few critics come along. Your perception about getting an apprenticeship instead following the character's behaviour is great. Perhaps those critic base their opinions on stadistics. Human being are more tent to do what is easy and barely do what is hard. Thinking is a hard shore to do, and usually teenagers tent to follow the bad role model because it is easy and less complicated. In any of the cases it would be a lesson to learn, although, for some can be a long way to go.
like you said, "There are so many choices to make, but there's only one option to fulfill a path."
I like your comments. I think they are great.!
Hey knucklez666, I am interested to see it now. I will rent it as soon as I have some time. I have seen many movies where the bad guys wins, but I will still rent this one and see what it has different.
It's so true, I tent to look beyong all the characters in a movie; the good and bad ones. It is very interesting to find out what is inside those characters. There is not much difference between them. We might think, analize, respond, and behave different. We might see, feel, touch, sense, and smell things different. We might follow different patterns, born in a different environments, or pick up different carrers, but we all at the end are human beings and have the same capacity to do good and bad. The only difference is that some of us have our strenght under control. It is like a wild horse that has been tamed. He’s just as strong, just as powerful, has just as much speed as other horses, but his strength is under control. But if you look at that horse, it is the same as other horses. You can walk up to him, pet him, lead the horse around, get on him and ride him. But if we can see more than what is outside, we will find out that the horse has the same power, the same tenacity as before, but he just learned how to control it. In many ocasions we are fighting inner battles with ourselves. We find ourselves fighting our dark side. I always wonder why our planet is rounded. Why it does not have an square figure or some other figure. It could be that we are tent to follow a life cicle, and we found ourselves falling in the same hole after a while. Perhaps because there is no more path to follow untill we do not pass the previous one. We tent to forget from where we came from, and we start over. It could be that we ,as human being, do not have the capacity to make our planet more then just a repetitive rounded ball where our lives are consume trying to find a way out.
i think the movie by spike lee called DO THE RIGHT THING. has lots of language in it that you would get in one type of film. wat i mean by that is that the movie is made up of multiple stories in a small community and diffrent outcomes for every sitiuation so the language that u get from every lil story with in the movie will be diffrent becaues there are diffrent messages that the film is trying to get out.
Hey xXJRXx I dont get it, if the "language of film" is a type of language, wouldnt the "simpsons movie" be more for a language of idiotic peaple, then a language to protect or watch over the earth.
I See the "Language of film" No more than an expression or acting that a person does. to make us belive that were sharing the same feeling as of whats going on.
Outstanding! The effort behind some of these comments is deep. I find myself rereading comments in order to get at the heart of their meaning. Paloma, you posted an excellent observation, connecting our humanity to both the good guys and the bad guys. It is true that we are often more compelled to feel more compassion for the bad guys, even while we're voting for the good guys. Bad guys are complex, messed up, often beaten down by life and they have something to teach us about ourselves.
You mention that humans often fall into the same hole without recognizing that hole. Very true. Perhaps film or the language of film allows us to "see" the hole that our heroes and villains repeatedly fall into. Perhaps, as spectators, we can then view our own lives with relief, make small changes or adjustments to our behavior. Perhaps watching a powerful movie is like waking up from a dream and saying: "Wow, I'm glad that was just a dream."
HEY!!! KIBA100
I MEANT IT IN AWAY THAT IM ANOTHER WAY OF COMMUNICATION, AS I SAID BEFOR THE "SIMPSONS"MOVIE IS TRYING TO MAKE US THINK DIFRENT,IM SORRY IF I CONFUSED YOU I HAVE TROUBLE PUTING MY THOUGHT IN WORDS!!!!!!
Hey Paloma, I'm glad you have seen this movie before. i did notice that he refused to use the rifle so instead i is walking around with a big piece of wood. His father did the same thing as well, wen chris gave him the gun he told him he didn't want to use it but in the ned he was forced to do it all because he was defending his family. I think that everybody hates violence even though sometimes we are caused by other people so its basically like we are being force to do so unless we know how to control ourselves. in this situation i guess chris didn't want to use a gun because he knew he could take care of it since we was well trained by the army. i also think that when someone kills another person is because they are being provoked by others or because they have so much anger inside of them and they take it out on someone's else life which i know is a horrible way to take care of it.
Hey Paloma
I received your comment about the questions you had about the movie. In my opinion Marley brought excitement and a spark into there lives. They were a young couple just beginning and the dog was uncontrollable at the beginning jenny didn't like the dog because of his flaws but at the end she learned to love him in the movie the dog unfortunately passes away.
hey this is omar,
and i think that the "The Language Of File" is that Films and video programs are efforts at communicate to people, just like how to speak english. I feel that Anyone can write about what they see on a TV or movie screen. I think that Film is a language all its own, a way of communicating using images which is understood around the globe, perhaps even around the galaxy.
Well dont guys fee that at times movies, get your attention i any way? for example i remembered watching this basketball movie and that 2 brotheres were palying this game, but one of them died duering the game. Later on in the movie the brother that died became an angel and made his brother become a better basketball player, but in the end, he no choice but to let his brother go and let him go back to heaven. i dont know why, but this movie was really touching.sometimes films helps ypu understand what other people feel about there love ones.
hey richard09
i agree with you, once you start a new life in college you expect more things. We expect more things such as freedom.I mean once i started college, i feel that i have more freddom than i use to befor, i mean dont you feel that way? cause i remeber when i was in high schooli had less chances to be w freinds like i do know in collge, so i guess you expect new thigs!
Omar Arce
Hey Sandy, so my underestanding about this movie is that there is times in life that we need someone close to us to gives us love and show us this small details on life that most of the times people don't put attention to, and they end up living a superficial life. In this case Marley came along and give them this ingredient of love that they need to complete their happiness. Don't you think? Thanks for answering my comment.
Yes Mr Schnitzler, In the movie slumdog millonaire, salim plays a bad guy but I could see deep in his heart that he was moved to become like that in order to survive the conditions he was living to. Conditions that were so hard to go through. Some people feel push to be more stronger than others and this brings a price to pay. In the movie, Salim was always protecting his brother because Jamal was weak and little shy, so Salim took charge for his brother. But it is hard to separate good and bad when someone have been force to show more strengh in life. If someone can't see the difference can be lost because I believe someone who touch fire gets burn and it is up to this person to cure the burn or keep burning other parts of himselve.
paloma i also to loved "Slumdog Millionare",it was a great message to never stop if you really want something. he didnt care for the money he just want Latika to see him and know that there was hope. i loved that everyone tried to keep them away even his own brother, he didnt care. its was also crazy about the questions that he knew all the answer to the questions because of bad experience he had. most people block memory like that or just dont remember he was really young. i wouldnt remember. each question was a new lesson that he learn and i learn with him. paloma did you know that the kids are really frim the slum's. it so bad that they brought them to the academy awards to see what they dont have. and take them back. but yeah i loved to that.
i also belive that language in flims also help you to be able to better undrstand someones feelings or emotion depinding on the point the moive is trying to get across. like for instance titanic was amovie were you see how it feels to be on a ship with your loved ones and death is around the corner because your out in the middle of no where and your sinking. what was going on in those peoples minds must of been some like real crazy things the emotion and energy going on while all taht was taking place.
Hi Luz, I am glad you see the movie, and that you like it. I was not impress by Jamal remembering what happend in his past because I believe the experiences he lived were imposible to forget. They were so crude and so painful. No one who has the sense of feeling could ever forget something like that. Personally, I can tell the enormous obstacles and pain that I have been living since I was a little child, and I do remember every single detail and even more when this memories are so painful.I think we ,as human beings, have the choice to take those memories and feel pety or pick up more streigh about ourselves. Yes, you are right, this movie has a great message that never stops.Perhaps there is a way to put it in one word "PERSEVERANCE". I believe Jamal become a millonaire because of what he lived and how he persevere and hope for someting beter. He still believed in love and although his crude past was part of his life,he did not let it control him. Yes, Jamal is a millonaire because to get to that point someone needs more than money. When someone feels that money is just a paper with a sign of dollars, that person is not control anymore by money, and it does not make any difference to have it or not. That is why Jamal did not care about becoming that kind of millonaire. Not the one who have a lot of money, but the kind that have everything without having a big account in the bank. Jamal was looking for his love, Latika. He wasn't looking for money, although, this money came along. Have you thing that if he was playing for money also he could become a millionaire? How interesting? Don't you thing? I did not know that the kids were from the slum's, how sad. Did you see the awards? How old are they? the same age as in the movie? children? How do they feel witnessing an award base of his crude past? What else did you feel besides sadness? What happend for your mind when you see them in T.V.?
Hi T.J., yeap- Titanic was an impressive movie. I saw it few times. This movie brough so many changes in my life. I wonder about the word "Freedom" when I saw the scene when she step on the front of the ship with open arms. I feel I was flying with her though the movements of his gorgeous dress move by the wind. Sometimes I do that in the pier when the wind flows hard. Since I saw that movie, I am afraid to go on a ship. I have never being in one. However, I am someone that likes to overcome my fears. The scene in the water when everyone felt from the ship, was frightening. Everyone was swimming, and I realized that I did not know how to swim. I was scared. I tought, "why did I left so much time and not learn how to swim?" so, know I swim like a fish. My next step is to go on a ship which I did not do yet, but I will. Did you observe people behavior when they found themselves in danger? all kinds ah?
It impress me when the musicians did not stop playing their instruments, acepting what it was coming. It reminds me this question that I often hear. "What would you do if today where the last day of your life?" I wonder if I would be still playing my music, or trying to scape in the middle of now where. Well, I guess it depends of the circunstances. If there is hope, I will probably fight, but if there is nothing I can do, I would rather enjoy the last minutes with my love ones.
sorry guys I post comments too late. Sometimes I can get early to my computer. Tomorrow I will be posting after 1:00 p.m. if someone is there I would love to have a discussion on any movie you might see. I have been reading very good comments, and I am learning a lot from you. It is always interesting to know other people opinions.
This might seem gross to some of you people but ive been through a whole lot of problems when i was growing up. one of my issues was working at a Burger King restaurant ohhh the painful memories.Ive seen this movie called "waiting," and its hilarious. This movie is about waiters at a Shinanigans restuarant that have all sorts of issues. Some of them I cant say here cause its explicit but thats why i recommend you to see it. Okay. A friendly reminder is to always always always respect the waiter or waitress becuase one false move and your food can contain anything from spit, snot, pubes to lice. AHAHAHA. Yes i find this very very hilarious only because i used to do these disgusting things at my previous job. Why? because people bug. People eat so damn much and then they wonder why am i so fat, I need to lose weight or i got disrespected. This burger sucks, its to dry, the bread is wet, i didnt want pickles or onions. Who cares damn it! Well this movie reminds me of why I am who i am and why i hate any job that needs to do with customers. The message in this movie is be nice to those whom you dont know and solve your own issues in different ways instead of punishing people for their mistake.
P.s..I only did this for three years. HAVE A NICE DAY !!!
I once had a job changing light bulbs. Seriously. I worked for an electrician. I would start my shift at 6 pm and we would go into office buildings and change hundreds of florescent light bulbs until dawn. Sometimes we watch movies and say, oh, that was me in another lifetime, flipping burgers at Burger King, or thinking about joining the army, or wanting to say the right thing at the wrong moment. Is that why we need movies... to shine a light into places we can't clearly see??
When I was 16 I was without a job and living alone. The only skills I have were office skills. I was usually dressing nice and looking perfect, but nobody wanted to hired me at that time. I was too young and did not have much experience. so, one day walking to the beach with my little pet (a turtle), I saw a help wanted announced. It was an small, very small business with a big draw of a popatoe in front of the store. The local was called "Popatoes Juan Pa". Juan Pa was the name of the young guy that hired me becasue I got the job. After a week, I did not recognize my hands. They were in so bad shape and hurt me a lot, but I did not care, I was working and making a living by my own. Later, something very funny happend. I was preparing the potatoes to be able to cook them. It was a long process, I start from early morning, and I did not finish it till late evening. That specific day I work very har. I remember as it happend yesterday. I was cooking the potatoes before the clients arrive when by mistake, I open a heavy huge lid that was covering the coal hopping to spread the coal all over the oven and get the potatoes cook faster. wow, I should have done that. A huge flame came out, and my first reaction was turning my face arround, but guess what, all my hair was burn. I scare to death and Juan Pa, my boss, came to help me immediatelly and pour water on me and into the fire. Thanks God nothing happend to my face and since that day I found out that I love hats. jajaja, so far I have a collection of 50 at home. Such experience I can never forget. Sometimes when I watch movies where characters plays a role in which they go through these kinds of experiences,a go to the past y visualize myself. Movies not only opens the door of the future but the door of the past. From Movies we can get a kind of reflexion about our lifes, and also we can get a reflexion about our past.
Hi luz, I read an article on Google about the boys being in the awards. Wow! it really impressed me. You know, I still believe that things that happend in life happend for something. I think even though the little boys when back to the slum's, they brough with them something else in their hearts. They brough a light that it would be very hard to turn off. This will bring hope for their futures who knows in what way. Perhaps by watching the movie they visualized their futures or what they can do to pursue their lifes although they live in the slum's. In the articles I read, happiness is the words that I read the most. They were living the moment and that's was all their care of at the time the awards were taking place. Many people who lives in gorgeous houses and have everything in their lifes sometines would die to have a moment like these two boys had. A moment of happiness. I keep saying life is so complex, and it is better to live the good moments and not the bad ones. Although bad moments are or will be there in our lifes, that doesn't mean we should stop dreaming for a better ones. I try to visualized them now in the slum's, and I can see them going through their everyday life like in the movie, but the time of happiness they lived don't let me stop thinking that they are also smiling.
i believe we do need to movies to clearly see how the real world is. ive also worked at a food place before. pizza hut. it sucked! i never wanted to go back to a food place ever again. it was so busy. and customers complained about any little thing. but i never spit nor did anything to customers food. thats something i would never do no matter how the customers treat you. that made me realized how school was important which makes me wonder how people make a living out of restaurants like that for years. i dont know why i havent watched many movies that would relate to me. i guess im not a movie person but movies have always something that connects its viewer. any thing from simply having an accident at work, or just experiences you go through in your life which thats why their are so many people in the theaters when i go to them. talking about the theaters is anybody ineterested in watching the new fast and the furious? ever since that movie came out i felt like underground racing through the streets has been more common. everytime in the news their is always innocent people dying from racers. now that i have been driving i guess it cool to hit 100 mph in the freeway but i have never thought about racing my car. i wonder how you guys feel about racing? but thats a movie i sure wana go see.
I'm not really a movie person but the movie that im really interested in watching right now is "Fast&feriouse" i think that movie is going to be good.I hope it is becase they always put the good parts on the commercials, and it looks like is going to be good but at the end its not.Well After i saw the first movie i liked watching people race and how they fixed there cars. I have a friend that used to street race all the time, but he stopped after he had an accident on the freeway.
Hi Judith, I watched one of the movies of "fast and furious", I don not really remember which one, but I know what do you mean by posting always the good parts as a previews. Movie makers know what would catch the attention of viewers, and they tent to play the best roles in the previews to invite viewers to see it. But as you said some of the movies are not really good. You said you are not really a movie person, well I am and fascinates me. But I guess you do not need to be a movie lover to go one of this times and watch a good peace of story. That is the fun of it. For me there is not an specific kind of movie. It all depends in my state of being at that time for me to pick up a movie to watch. Sometimes I do not go for a month. "Fast and Furious" movie sounds ok to me. I do not usually like to see the same story again an again because more o less the viewer knows what it is going to happend, but I underestand some movies has a catch eye viewers because of their special effects, language, images, or simply feels the adrenaline the scenes makes us to feel. The think I love to see the most in the movie I saw of "fast and Furios" was the different cars models, and the colors were awesome. It is interesting how movies can caught viewers atention not just by a good story but by their graphics, special effects, and images.
I Juan, particularly I do not like racing. It is too dangerous. There is a high posibility that someone gets hurt or even worse hurt somebody else.As you said, "Ever since that movie came out, I felt like underground racing through the streets has been more common. You said that everytime in the news their is always innocent people dying from racers.I think most people who race knows of that consecuences, but they can not hold the addrenaline this might get them to experience. I think people sometimes adopt something they watch in a movie to their own lives because they think is a cool thing to do or perhaps they want to experience something different. But we, as a viewers, need to be smart and not to get confused with movies' messages which sometimes takes us to make wrong decision that can put us in trouble.
Hi Neni, sorry I missed your post on March 16. You have a good point there when you said that movies can be much more then just an entretainment. Whenever I watch a movie I experience all kinds of feelings although this movies could be in the category of drama, action,or comedy. Most of the times I found myself making reflexios in my own life when I watch characters' behaviours in movies. This reflexion can be taken from the good guys or the bad guys. In the movies, it doesn't matter who is whom. The main point in a reflexion is what that character is teaching you about life or about yourself. You are right; movies provide hope and motivate us in life. Sometimes we found ourselves being reflected in movies and that give us the change to make changes in our own lifes. I would say, movies has an indirect way of telling us "Hey look what could happend" or "See where you are going".
hey everybody i was reading Judith's comment
about the fast and furious movie. i cant wait until that movie comes out, i'm sure it will be a great one. it has alot of action and racing which is good. even though it is said that these type of movies can influence others by wanting to race and this can be very serious because someone can get in an accident. we'll see what happens
Hey paloma
The comment that you said about “movies have an indirect way of telling hey look what could happened”, well I have noticed that in TV shows, and commercials. I never thought about it in movies before but now that you brought it up in your comment or who ever brought it up. Now I realize that it is true it shows what can happened and teach you a lesson.
HEY, SINCE WE HAVE TO POST LET ME BE THI FIRSF ONE!! I AGREE WITH KEVIN TV SHOWS OR MOVIES CAN TEACH YOU A LEASSON.I CA RELATE TO SOME OF THESE SHOWS AND MOVIES BECAUSE THEY MAKE ME THINK BACK IN SOME OF THE DECISIONS I HAVE MADE IN MY LIFE. THEN I THINK IS THIS THE RIGHT ONE?
I agree with paloma 100% that lauguage from film is a really powerful element of communication. What ever the viewers take from that film can shape the mind and view thinks from another perspective.
hey paloma
I suggest that you should see the movie 50 First Dates it’s a romantic comedy, because I read in one of your comments that said something about love movies. And this movie is all about love and how to make a person fall in love with you since the moment you wake up.
In general
This one movie “Crash” has a lot of language I bet a lot of people have seen it but if you haven’t you should see it ASAP. I love the way that in the film they go from future to pass and how everything at the end gets connected together. And you get the point of the movie and it’s a really dramatic film.
There was this movie i saw,it was called "I am Sam" it was a great movie.Has anybody seen it? That movie made me cry like a baby. It made me think how brave and smart Sam was, even though he was mentally challenged. He took care of his daughter all by himself and he had a job. Before i thought that mentally challenged people coulnt raise a child, but after seeing this movie i changed my mind.
People! Try to create a thread. Like you're having a conversation in a room. "Listen" to someone and respond. As others enter the conversation, try to follow that "thread". We all can agree that the language of film can teach us a lesson. Now, how do films "act" upon us and shape our realities, our behaviors, our self perceptions, our value systems?
Today I saw a movie named Pineapple express. It was about a guy who buys drug from his drug dealer friend and one day he went and bought some rare weed named pineapple express and they where the only one's who had that type of weed and the one who distribute it. So that same night he went to work, his job was to hand legal documents to people to make sure they get it, so he went to go hand out a document which was the guy that distribute the weed so that guy was they one who sold it to his friend the drug dealer, so he saw when that guy kill someone he freaked out and crash into two parked cars and they killer heard and then the guy came out and found the roach he threw and smoke so he know it was his pineapple express so then that guy was up to kill him and his friend because they witness the murder. this movie made me laugh threw the whole entire movie. I really recommend is funny.. You guys could see movies at www.movie6.net
hey richard
i saw that movie "pineapple express" when it first came out. i founded it very funny even though it had to do with drugs. these kinds of movies can influence teenagers by wanting to get high and maybe get into the business. i think this is a real good movie because it shows us what happens in the reality.
i agree with you cle_ceron pineapple express really isnt one of those kinds of movies that will touch us in a way we can relate to .its a funny movie and i liked it but it kinda does give off that vive where teenagers will more likely mayb want to try weed or drugs because the movie makes it seems like its ok to smoke weed because the two main characters are high almost the whole movie this movie is just giving the wrong signal for teenagers-Andrea Garcia
I love pineapple express, its hilarious. even though drugs are illegal and its a bad thing to show our little ones i still believe is funny. The only way they wont do drugs is to slap them upside the head other than that the movie is awesome. getting high through out the entire movie was genious and damn i seen it so many times. if theirs more of you guys or girls that like watching people getting high and its hilarious try watching HALF BAKED AND HOW HIGH.
Okay great. So, let's get past the getting high part of Pineapple Express and ask: Why is it so enjoyable to watch films of people making absolute fools of themselves? I haven't seen Pineapple Express, but I can say this: every movie, comedy, tragedy, whatever, has characters that want something. That WANT often drives the story forward. Sometimes that WANT drives our own lives forward.
Questions to consider:
What does it mean to want something? Is the WANT just an idea? What are you willing to do for an idea? How do ideas shape your reality? Is your own life possibly lived by two people? The person who wants and the person who lives the reality? How do we separate the WANT from reality? In movies, the characters WANT and set on a course to accomplish it. Often they trip over the want and make big mistakes. How does fate play a role as you reach? What gets in your way? Have you ever tripped over yourself?
What are you thinking?????
I think the fast and the furious is gana be a good hit. after all it is the same characters and a different story now that dom knows that brain is a cop ...... anyways i cant wait to see it
in almost any kind of movies they show some truth. violence, drugs, hatred, betrayal, etc. some are base it on real life happenings. i belive this is one way of expressing there feelings and emotions through the big screen. some are examples of what happens when u make a bad decision and the consequences it brings you
The language of film is another type of message. This language is expressed through ideas, feelings, and so much more. Through film people can relate to a piece and find a resolution to their reality. the last movie that i saw was twilight. After watching this movie I learned that her WANT was to be with Edward, and she did everything possible o get what she wanted. I also though of me! There are many things that I want and sometimes i have t push my self to get the. In some way i pictured myself to be Bella -Leslie.M
I think that you are willing to do anything what ever it takes to reach that idea. For example my whole idea when i was a senior was to get that high school diploma.I did anything to reach that idea from staying after school, intersetion, ect... and i reach my goal because i had the will, and effort to reach it.
i really want to go see fast and the furious just like Jerry. i think this is going to be a great movie. i've seen the first three movies. i'm sure they will be about the same thing which is racing. im sure this movie will make some people want to drive faster on the streets. maybe this can help others understand that it isn't safe to do this and they realize that is just a movie and they always make it seem that it is cool and nothing wrong will happen.
Just like Jerry and cle_ceron I too can't wait for the Fast and Furious movie to come out. I'm planning on watching the mid night showing with a couple of friends. Its amazing how three movies already came out and how the fourth one is going to have the main characters from the first movie. I remember reading the script for the movie few months back; after reading the script it made me want to watch the movie already because of how the story line was written. The one downside of all three movies was that the movies got so many people into the fixing up/racing scene. I’m not saying it is a bad thing, but these movies have influenced so many people to fix up their cars and race people illegally on the streets. I got to admit, I’ve been in the car scene for a long time now, but all I do is jus fix up my car and just drive to the in-n-out that everyone is hanging out at and talks about our cars and other similarities. The one bad thing now is that so many people have done stupid things with their cars which give bad images of fixed up cars to the police. Just today I was driving my Acura RSX to school today and as I was driving I got pulled over today, not because of how I was driving, but because of how my car looked. The cop said he pulled me over for my window tint, but he asked me to pop my hood as well. The cop then gave me a ticket for my window tint because he didn’t see anything illegal on my engine.
I agree with you cherry pie I was thinking the same thing. It’s something you want and will do anything to get what you want and strive for it until you accomplish it, but sometimes there obstacles to over come. I have a friend who wants to go to a No Doubt concert but she is running low on money. The only way for her to get the money for the ticket is by recycling cans.
I remember when I first watched Pineapple express I couldn’t stop laughing. So far this was one of my favorite movies to watch if I’m bored and want a good laugh. The one thing that made the movie so comedic was the actors played in the movie. I don’t think anyone could have played a better role than them. Although this movie may be a very bad influence on teens these days; if you set aside the drugs and violence in this movie, this movie could have taught you a good meaning with friendship and loyalty to a relative like a grandma.
The language of film to me is expressed in many different ways. I came across a film the other night called "America" This movie was incredible touching and in lighting the movie was about a boy named after our country he grew up with a lot of issues in his family and the language it gave me was that you have to speak out and talk to people so they can here you. He wasn't much of a talker he was to his self and him hurting in so many ways because he didn't talk to any one about how he felt or about life.
I believed that movies like fast and furious is a movie that would inspired someone like me to do what they do race in streets. When the first movie came out i started to upgrade me car by putting in so many different things to my car so that it would go fast and race in by Florence. Its really inspiring for young males to do illegal races in the streets.
Tokie Williams movie I forgot what was it called, but by watching that movie it made me think that I would never want to commit a crime that would sentence me to death. When I was watching this movie it made me feel like if i was going to be the one being executed. Tookie also give you advice to stay away from gang violence, drugs, or anything that would get you where he is in prison. This movie is really good to see especially to the ones who don't live in a gang violence society.
I find it crazy how directors and producers in the movie buisness can put in so much meaning into movies that you wouldn't usually expect it. Every movie has a meaning to it and i think its a really good way of communicating ones life experience and message to someone else.
i agree with Christian the more the director and the prducer put into making a movie the better it comes out. But when thier focus goes to animation u could tell where their is a diffrence between reality and animaion. like "Superman returns" when his in space.
The language of film is performed in many ways. Film is a way of getting into people's mind. Film can be expressed in ways that can make you explore a new way of seeing life. Movies are one of many ways where you can find language. Some examples of body language are with the body and the way of speaking.
The movie "Knowing" was a great movie. When i saw this movie it made me think about all the possibilities that can really happen. This movie is about how the Earth can one day just get tired of humans and decide that it is time to get rid of them somehow. This movie also lets you know how fate works. it tells you that once its time for you theres no turning around. This movie showed me so many ways of language. It also left me thinking about how if we dont take care of our home witch is 'Earth" we will have nothing in the future. This directors did a very good job expresing all the languages used in this film.
Yeah your right about the characters paloma whether its a good guy or bad guy in a movie there are times when you can relate to one of the characters in the movie. A bad guy can teach you what can happen with a bad decision and a good guy with a good or bad decision also the movie doesnt always have to teach you a character can be one to show what can happen. There are so many things in a movie to that can relate to us we just have to pay attention to them. Even some of the situations in a movie can relate to us because we could be in the same position.
Hey paloma,
im happy that you understood what i was trying to say and also the meaning of the movie without seeing it. I also wanted to tell you that you did a great job with the feedback and your understanding and point of view. i liked the way you said that Marley came along and gave the couple this ingriedient they were missing in order to complete their happiness.
I agree with you cherry pie. When you want something you will do anything in your power to get what u want. I used to weight almost 300 pounds, one day i looked in the mirror and i said to my self hell no i dont want to look this way anymore. I have to do something and i did. I start going to the gym and i accomplished what i wanted.
hello
Well my all time favorite movie is twilight many of you have probably heard of it even though the movie is not that good the book's are amazing. getting back to the movie it really captured my attention the characters in the movie as well as the setting, personalities, also the genre of the movie which is love, romance and fantasy which I consider that being the language of film. In my personal opinion the things i have listed captivate the vieweres attention, aswell as it being a young romance. im going to be given u guys a little review of the movie.
Bella adores Edward, and he returns her love. But Edward is having a hard time controlling the blood lust she arouses in him because he's a vampire. At any moment the intensity of their passion could drive him to kill her, and he agonizes over the danger. But Bella would rather be dead than being apart from Edward, so she risks her life to stay near him, and the movie burns with the erotic tension of their dangerous relationship.
Pine apple express was a awesome movie! I also agree with Christian. The characters were great and the actors were perfect. The message of the story was about friendship and always sticking together when things get really hard.
I agree with you dcynthia71. I havent seen the movie "knowing" but its true what you said about the earth is going to get tired of us and its going to get rid of us some how.I believe that our world is overpopulated, this is the reason why god makes natural disasters.so that there is a mass of people dying, he does this to even out our population.
HI!! I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY BUT I'M MAKING AN EFFORT OK!!!! WHAT I THINK ABOUT PINEAPPLE EXPRESS CHARACTERS WILLING TO MAKE AN JOKE OUT OF THEMSELVES IS SO COOL. THEY MAKE BAD DECISIONS BUT IN THE END THEY END UP MOVING PAST IT.
I agree with the post on how you can learn from tv shows or movies because most of them are based off real life events that can happen.and the way u interpret the movie can be wat you pull from out of it
i think movies like sordfish were some guy tircks another guy to hack into the banking system and take millions of dollars. And do this in a way were he just keeps on having twists to each part in the movie. Meaning you think you know whats gonna happen next but it ends up being the last thing ur thinking about.... its like deception....having you sidtracted some were else to get to were your intending to go
Christian, what happened to you was unfair. I believe ever since the fast and the furious came out many cops has been pulling over drivers with race cars. Due to the concern of Illegal Street racing law enforcement pull over vehicles that look similar to the one in the movie. They assume that you have a tank of NOS under the hood if it’s modified for racing
in some movies the power of the languge of flim can help people relate interms of life issues that u may be going though.
hi Xb
I agree on what you have said how people can relate to their life issues.
Do u have a movie where you can relate to yourself in some kind of way?
i think a movie like mississippi burning has alot of powerful ways of showing you the reality of life back then in mississippi. the movie takes place when rascim wasmore common back in the day. as you watch and just try to understand wats really going on si that some fbi agents came down to see wat all the fuss was about and as they are down there their experiance with the community was like they were forigners. and all that rasist stuff they was doin was just apart of life.
The language of fil is awesome. why you ask? well damn by far the best example is the Texas Chainsaw Massacre in which a family in Texas are cannibles. Its a true story. A family eating people for survival. language of film is expressing those feelings those possible feelings actors throw at the audience to shock us or look in digust. Realism. Languge of film is something that is understood as something that cant be physically or mentally understood but images brings thought and thought brings language.
i just read christians comment about you being pulled over by the cops. and it is true. santa monica pd just find any reason to pull people over around smc. i got pulled over a month ago for my music being too loud. i guess i have to admit it was loud but i ended up receiving the ticket anyway. everytime i am going home from school i see cops pulling nice cars over. all they look for is nice rims window tints and a nice car. they right away suspect your dealing drugs. Fast and the furious has impacted every guy who has a car becuase i can say all i do is spoil my car now in days. the first fast and the furious was made for entertainment but has also impacted young teens wanting to race. a few months ago i just found out about a guy who use to go to my high school who had passed away in a car accident because of racing. so even though movies intend to just bring out entertainment, they also bring negative images which of course it is ones choice to follow or not.
watching films in which characters make a fool of themselves seem to enjoy the audience. i can say movies that make a fool of themselves, i dont find entertaining. i saw the movie "four christmas". it was suppose to be a comedy based movie but i did not laugh one single time in it. i dont know why but it is ones sense of humor that cant probably relate to the scene. now for instance movies like "friday" "dont be a menace" are movies i sure like. maybe its because they are movies in which takes place in the "ghetto" and all the terms and slang that are used are known to me.
Well my opinion is that we watch people make absolute fools of themselves because some of us are to scared to act out in public. Our society has modernized immensely but there are still some things that are considered taboo. The language of film provides us with a sense of comfort to which we're not the only ones who want to do absurd things; that we're not the only weird, hyper, crazy people.
i remember watching notorious. that movie was cool. i liked how notrious suffered and went through alot to get where he was before he got murdered. he was a drug dealer, he spent time in prison, and was raised by a single monther. in this movie his WANTS were to be a singer. and he achieved that goal at the end. nothing and no one stopped him from getting to his goal. In one scene him and his friend were caught by the police. their was a gun that was recovered which said was one of theirs. the police officer told them. one of you is going down for possesion of this gun. if notorious was going to be charged for this weapon, then he would go to jail for life which would ruin his dream of being an artist. his friend decided to take the charge for it. so notorious realized how important it was to succeed. he began to desperately find any record deal and he did. he became famous and was known for representing the east coast. the whole theme that i got from this movie was that nothing can stop you from your dreams. this movie inspired me to become to who i want to be. their are twists and turns in life which cant stop anybody from earning thier WANTS in life.
You guys are flying! Congratulations. Excellent discussion.
the only movie that i can truly relate to is Lionheart. I love this movie because the actor is such a good actor and his fighting style was awesome. His name is Jean Claud Vandam. Well the main point of this movie was that he needed to get into illegal street fighting to earn money to help his sister in law. now the only way i can relate to this movie is the times where me and some friends would be on the park and fist box for 60 seconds and the one with the most punches or k.o is declared winner. As jean Claude in the movie he defeated everyone in his way but not me i had a few losses but hey thats why its a movie and i lived another day to say damn i kicked that guys ass one time and this big guy whooped me but at least i got to keep my teeth.
i was reading Magallon_Juan comment...ive seen one of the movies that relate to "friday" i not sure what the name of the movie was but the point is that there is this guy going around in the night in a santa claus costume with a bag. as he go and breaks in the houses he takes everybody's gifts or whatever he finds valuable. this can be relate to the language of film in the way that this has happened to several people that live in the ghetto. i guess you can say it is common for people to hear that someone has broken in when it comes to christmas holiday since all they want is rob gifts and give them away. since language can show us what goes around in different places of the world.
I saw the movie "Knowing", the story centers on a sheet covered in numbers that was written by a young girl fifty years ago and placed in a time capsule.
As Knowing unfolded before me, I was drawn deeper and deeper into the tale. This is a movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat. There is a delicious slow burn quality permeating each frame. You are only given what you need to know, and even then it is barely enough. Knowing forces you to engage, to become involved, but it does so in such a way that you may not even be aware of it at first. This is the type of movie that you do not want to read too much about. There is a lot going on. It brings all manner of religious, scientific, and philosophical questions to the table. What is the price of knowing? If you knew the end was coming and could do nothing about it, would you really want to know? I'm not so sure I would.
About halfway through the film, I began to wonder if they had what it took to go all the way with what they were implying. There is this build-up to the final moments when questions are answered, more are raised, and you are expelled back into the night, unsure of what it is you just experienced. Well, that and thinking about the pair of visceral set pieces that hit hard and leave you shaken and stirred in the midst of the philosophical pursuits.
All this kind of relates to us. What is happening to us right now.
We are pieces of life. If one of us happens to disappear then everyone starts talking about it and feel bad.
Like 10 years ago. There was something on the news saying that an asteroid was coming to hit earth and i got super scared and was crying alot..I went to hug my mom and told her that i love her very much. I felt really bad for everyone else because it's true. The world will end sometime and there is nothing we can do so we can survice the tradegy. This uses alot of communication with everyone as it tries to send a message telling us that we live life how we want it, but we cannot make our own rules for what we can or cannot expect. We just got to let it hit us.
I also saw "I love you man" you can say that the language they use reflects what any men hanging out might say or do. that men talk different and are more open about something when they are with trusted male friends but not when they are with their girlfriend or wife. This movie shows that you dont have to be a girl to express your feelings to a guy because it is ok for a guy to say that he loves his guy friend. maybe because he has always been there for him or he has done something special and sometimes you dont need a reason to say.
okay some of you ppl were talking about "fast & furious movie. Yea I drive a car and its cool when you are trying to show off that you have a nice engine that turns your car into a fast one. I dont say i drive wreckless, i do trust me. But you should never try racing your car when there are other innocent people on the streets. If you want to race, you should race where there is no one around. Try the desert for example. Thats a really good place to race. No one around for miles.
Well let me get to the point. I was in Vegas this past weekend. My friend and I were cruising around the city. He was driving fine. But as i saw from the left corner of my eye I saw somthing coming really fast at us. I shouted out at my friend as the car kept on getting closer to us "head on", and it hit me..not the car something else as my hands got to the driving wheel and i moved it away from the upcoming car. He missed us and when i looked back the car hit the other car that was behind us. My friend did a U turn and we went back to see what had happened, it was awful both cars were wrecked really bad. And I said to myself we could have died that instant. My frined said the same.
So I had an expirience already of how car racing could end your life in the blink of an eye. Its not right to take the life of others as car racing is very dangerous in whatever situation your in.
So Language of Film is understanding how or what the movie is trying to say to you. As it deepens more and more into your thoughts. I think.
ohh and we were not racing..he was showig me around the city..it was the car that missed us that was racing.
Hey Kevin,
I have seen Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist more than 9 times...trust me i'm a movie freak and thats my best movie choice for the 2008 year
ok well let me get to the point
..ok well not saying that your wrong, but your partially right..about the movie..
Yes they are Teens with same types of music they both like, but it all started when he was playing his guitar during the gig.
She kept on looking at him and felt some connection with him even though they had never met before. Then comes the kiss which she feels something different about him and he as well notices something different. So throughout the whole movie there is a twist. Not only they are falling in love and getting attached to each other, but they are also getting to know each other during throughout the whole movie as they look for Norah's friend throughout the city and try to find a popular fictional band that will be playing somewhere around New York City.
So "The Language of Film" would be that there are different types of communications or messages a movie would want to throw at you, but in the end you the person has to figure out what kind of message it is.
yeah people are somtimes dumb and think they can do just the exact same thing they see in a movies.
i had a friend who thought that his car was fast and he would always race random people on the street. one day he tried to do a stunt he saw. a 360 turn but he ended up hiting a parked car. it was a hit a run. anyways those movies are so that u learn not
i can't wait to watch fast and furious this thursday of midnight...
i am so excited but talk about cars and police. I've been into a situation where I got pulled over for speeding in the freeway but in a stupid way...
i was in the carpool lane in the 10 freeway heading east to west covina. Now in this typical area, there's alot of racers around the area and the police considered me as a racer as well because supposedly my car was fixed up but nothing illegal hooked up in my car. I was driving my honda accord and next thing you know a highway patrol was right behind me with the sirens on and in my mind I was saying what the hell is going on??? i didn't do anything wrong. but what i did notice is that at the end of every month police tend to patrol more often just to get paid which is true...
so for me i'm going to fight for this ticket and plea not guilty for no reason just because my car is fixed up doesn't mean i'm a racer.
Someone was talking about the movie "Crash", as it switches from scene to scene and we have the Hispanics, Whites and African Americans. I found this movie to be really sad as i wasn't hoping to see that this is what really happening all around us. Everyone has a hater and some of us have problems that cannot be solved. We all reach some point in our life that we cannot handle something that's troubling us. The movie doesn't talk about racism. It just talks, well it shows how people are different from one another. As it shows everyday challenges these different inviduals meet. each character is faced with mounting issues and is required to make life-altering decisions based on their own life’s accumulation of experiences. I like the way it wound through the lives of a number of people, all of whom were unrelated at first, but who inevitably, much like in real life, either rubbed themselves up against another and affected their lives, or directly “crashed” into someone else’s existence and altered their future at the same time. Many elements in this film worked to perfection, but ultimately it was the mix of everything just coming together so beautifully, on an emotional level ,a truth level if you will, that got me to genuinely emerge myself into the lives of all these people, every single one of which had a story to tell, a different background and race to present and (again) just like in real life, diverse life experiences to inject into their daily personas.
The film reminded me of a saying that one of my buddies once tossed out there, which stuck to me throughout my life and that is that most people in the world are genuinely “good”, but its their behavior and attitude that will determine whether or not they are actually “good” or “bad” people. My friend had called another person we both knew an “asshole”, which I knew not to be true, so I replied back, “He’s not an asshole, he’s actually a nice guy.” My buddy replied back, “Hey, he may be a nice guy, but he still acts like an asshole…which to me, makes him an asshole!” My point being, and the general undertone of this entire motion picture, and maybe even life in general (wow, this review is getting “deep”), is that you never really know where another person is coming from when you meet them, or even when you just share a moment or two with them in life. Everyone’s experiences have shaped and made them into what they are today, but that doesn’t mean that you needn’t attempt to shape yourself into a better or stronger person, instead of simply resigning yourself to the place to which you’ve been appointed. The greatest part about this movie is that even though it does represent the darkest sides of people living in America today, across all races, it also doesn’t spray them all with the same stink, allowing each person to make decisions and consider changes that inevitably amend their lives, either for the better or worse.
It’s like I used to tell my ex-girlfriend, “Tomorrow is yet another day for you to begin to become who you want to be.” People use their past experiences, their upbringings or anything “external” to explain their behavior and shit, but the truth is that YOU have total control of yourself and YOU make every single decision in your life every single day. The characters in this film were all believable, and despite all of their circumstances ultimately clashing like they might in a “movie”, none of it came across as contrived to me, surely because of the amazing writing job by the film’s creators, as well as all of the actors who brought depth to every one of their characters
hey Salazar_Kevin,
I do agree that Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist is the best movie choice of the year 2008.
because it's about teenagers having fun and living their lives. Cause life is like a mixtape full of tracks. You live once, you some some of your love ones and gain more love ones. JSLV ||()\/[] (LOVE)
and also
im sorry to hear that you had that crazy experience that you actually witnessed somebody get into a car crash...
cause it happened to me too. luckily I survived because I didn't had air bags on my very first car. I t was pretty old but still, I am so happy that I am still alive because my car was totaled when i got into a car crash...
any how, I've learned my lesson and i hope that every one in the world drives safely because in this tiny little world you have so many things to do but you can only do one thing at a time, so live your life and enjoy while you're at the moment. JSLV ||()\/[]
Hell yeah! Car crash might be exciting to look in movies but to live damn its a drag. I was never in a car accident nor did i have a car without air bags. But my first car which was a Nissan XRS looked like a batmobile when i got it out from the impound and after having my pink slip for 24 hours my car caught on fire. I was so upset because i had it for 1 day and boom it was totalled. But yeah im sorry to hear about people in car accidents it sucks but at least you are alive.
I've seen crash and its one of those movies where it puts you think about how racist people are in this country. I hate the fact that this world is surrounded with this dilemma. The part that is something ive seen happen more often is when a couple is walking by and a black male walks the opposite side the couple either crosses the street or speed walk to a safer place. Not knowing if the man is crazy or not. As in the movie ludacris playing the role of a gangster stole a car of a couple. the women assumed what was going to happened and her assumption came true. in the end the man didnt press any charges and he was greatful for his forgiveness. I wish everyone wouldnt have to worry about racist people out here becasue when we are racist were actually hurting those that feel those tensions.
I saw this great movie called "The hurricane" with Denzel washington playing the lead role the great hurricane carter. Well in the movie he play's this famous boxer who is wrongly accussed of mudering a person. He spends 30 years of his life in jail.Throught the movie we see how this man is willing to pay this sentence even though he did not commit it. Long story short in the end his innocence is proven. This thought me not to loose faith and the true will always come out in the end.
HEY KEVIN AND KNUCKLES 666,
WELL I AGREE WITH KEVIN IN ONE PART WHERE YOU SAY THAT ITS NOT ABOUT RACISM, ITS THE FACT HOW PEOPLE REACT. I MEAN KNUCKLES MENTION ABOUT RACISM IN THE MOVIE, BUT I MEAN I DONT THINK ITS RACISM. I BELIEVE ITS ANGER THAT SOMEONE HAS TO A CERTAIN PERSON OR GROUP. IM NOT RACIST OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT, AND IM HAPPY IM NOT LIKE THAT, BUT WHEN I WALK DOWN THE STREETS BY MYSELF, I DO FEEL FEAR WHEN I SEE GHETO LOOKING BLACK GANSTERS. OR ANY OTHER GANG. WHAT IM TRYING TO SAY IS IVE SEEN A LOT OF CRIME IN MY OWN TWO EYES, MAINLY BLACKS, ONCE AGAIN IM NOT RACIST. BUT I ALSO HAD BAD EXPERIENCES WITH BLACK PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY HAVE ASSAULTED ME BEFORE. MY POINT IS THAT IM HISPANIC, AND ANY OTHER RACE THAT SEE ONE CERTAIN GROUP DOING SOMETHING WRONG, WE GET KIND OF SCARED. I MEAN NO ONE IS BAD IN THIS WROLD, BUT WE CHOOSE TO BE. FOR EXAMPLE MY MOM IS FROM SPAIN, AND MY DAD MEXICAN. SAME SITUATION, IN THE SCENE CRASH. MY MOM GRABBED MY DAD AND I BECAUSE THEY WERE 4 BALCK MALES APPROCHING US, BUT THEY DIDNT DO ANYHTING. BUT ONE OF THOSE BALCK GUYS SAID, "WTF, SHE THOUGHT WE WERE GOING TO STEAL FROM HER, RACIST MOTHERFU***" THE ONLY THING WE NEED IN THIS WROLD IS PEACE BECAUSE WE LIVE IN ONLY ONE WORLD, AND WE ALL ARE SHARING IT
Hi!
I saw the movie "Crash" and I feel that the movie is about racism. The stereotypes people have towards people who are not like them. I love this movie becuase it shows the reality of people's lives, it wasn't all happy endings. And we get to see how people's lives crash into each other in one way or another.
hey kevin
i read your comment the one that was talking about the movie "crash" i haven't seen it yet. i do believe that people have different ways to react. sometimes it depends on the situation. there are times when one person can give a certain attitude depending on their mood. this can be the way that one can misunderstand or think that they are a bad person just because they reacted in one way they can find disturbing. ive seen different cases where a friend can hate or dislike someone and just because they talk wrong about that person you start disliking the other person even though you don't know who they are. this is something that everybody goes through....anyways i will see if i can rent that movie and see what goes on in their life.
this weekend i went to go see "fast and the furious" i don't want to kill it for those who haven't seen it... so i'm not going to name any characters but what i found really interesting that sometimes when it comes to our love ones we can go down to do anything. we can do whatever it takes to pay back. this reminded me of the last comment i posted. when i started talking about how one goes down for another. it's like a chain when one goes the other comes along no matter what. this is how people can't really see the other persons point of view.
hey CLE_CERON
I agree for what you said about the movie fast and the furious because a person could love someone so much that they could even risk there own life.
i haven't seen the fast and furious. thats good that you enjoyed it because i went sure if i should go see it. after the other one that came out. and yes people could love someone so much that they could even risk there own life. because thats how much they care. people in love dont care for the risk or danger because they want the best for there love one even if they might get hurt or in big trouble. i guess i why go watch this movie. so many good reviews.
Hi Kevin, I watched the movie. It was so deep, I could not stop crashing in every single character. Every scene reminds me something I have seen or better said; something I still see. I got scared because the characters are so real. Each time I crashed into one character, I live it. I feel it as if I was there. I was moved by their actions, and I could not stop my heart from braking. I haven't cry with so much intensity in years.I was crash by the movie. There were too much reality for me to handle at the same time. Perhaps because I know what this movie reflects in is not the past neither the future but the present. This movie really opens the dark door many of us keep painting white to cover appearances. You are absolutly right when you said that we all reach at some point in our life that we cannot handle. We rather use a blindfold and cover our eyes and not see what is really happening inside of a black skin, a bold and tattoe guy, a conceited girl, a well dress man, a rich or poor woman, a litle kid, an old man,or an agreesive police officer. All these people mentioned above are caming from difference environments and background, and all of them are different from each other. but what makes them different is not precisely the way they look, but the way they conduct in life. Acting negatively upon our fears and insecurities instead of confronting them, can take us to frustration, and It is up to us to keep going or let ourself behind. I am not sure if this movie is talking about racism, but You know Kevin, I kept wandering why people do stereotype? Why the color of skin differed some from others? or Why a nationality bring up a story about people and don't let this people to tell their own story? Do you think it was desperation what takes the persian man in the movie to go and try to kill the mexican guy? Why he thinks the mexican guy was the one who destroy his store? It was because he was bold and have tattoos, or because he has the keys of the back door? It was interesting to see how the characters were push to act upon a deep crude reality they were facing at the moment. The police man was the one who impressed me the most. He was suffering the pain of his sick father, but he was carrying a bigger pain himself; the pain of ignorance. It is so truth when you said that experiences in life shaped us and made us into what we are today. I agree with you that this doesn't mean we should carry that experiences with us all the time. We need to have new and better ones.Kevin I was impressed by your comment. You really got into the movie and deep into the message.
Thanks for sharing a life time lesson at least for me by watching this movie.
the movie called the Changeling made me feel the same emotion the Paloma felt. a little summary about the film, its about this woman that prays to find her kidnapped son, and has a lot of hope. this movie made me feel like the mother and how it would feel to loose a son. it goes through out showing how hard she work to find the one she loves with was her son also it showed what things cops got away with in the 1920. because in the movie they bring her the wrong child and she tell them its not hers and then they make her seem crazy and put her in the nut house. but through all of that she still didnt give up on like for her son. so when things started to go into play about the wher about of her son is where it hit my i had been in that situation i cried and and felt for that little kid because this movie was based on true events. and this kid has still not been found.
I havent seen the fast and the furious movie yet either but i will soon and it sounds like a character in the movie is risking their life for someone they love. Love can drive a person that extra mile. For love some people would do anything and when it comes to a loved one in your life your willing to do anything and everything possible for that person. In the movie it seems someone is going to be pushed to their limit and only love can probably keep that character going. Here is another way the language of film speaks to us we know films can inspire and motivate us but when you add love to it it can really connect to certain people who feel they are in the same position as the characters. and by seing what the characters do can help them decide in their life. Many good reviews about this movie cant wait to see it.
This weekend I saw a zombie movie name quarantine. This movie was recorded like a documentary they started in a fire station like what do a fire fighter does and they show the whole fire station and what do they do while they wait for a call. They got a called at a local apartment, and everyone in the apartment complex what infected on with some sort of infection and those people were acting like zombies. This movie is good because it gives a example of a possible new threat to humanity
Chemical warfare.
I also saw another movie named hostel. I believe this movie is really disgusting and it could give good ideas to major killers. This whole movie is deal by people who just torture people by cutting body parts and just making them suffer.
Dead silence is another scary movie it supposedly about a puppet who kills persons by cutting their tongues and form them to a human puppet. A happy couple received a package that contain a creepy puppet, and that same night when her husband when out to go buy food the puppet killed his wife. Then he went on a journey to find out who did it and eventually they puppet was poses by a bad spirit well the one who made him was a bad person and when she died her spirit got into the puppet body.
Scarface is my favorite movie it inspired me to be just like him with a tough mafia attitude. This movie shows you how someone can start from the bottom and be at the top. In my case I dont wanna be a mafia but I like how he did business and how he killed those people without thinking twice only once when he was about to kill some but that guy he wanted to kill was with his family. The part I didnt like was when he killed his best friend only because he married his sister. Other than that this movie is the best mafia movie out there.
As I said before, movies can influence the way we think and act in so different ways. We all viewers are different, and we interpret messages according with what we are living right now, what someone told us, or what we had seen or hear. But the real thing is that there is only one true message for each of us and getting this message will not depend on our knowledge, but in the way we perseve things happening around us. What is right for some is not for others. What is love for some might not be for others and so on. That's why communication in general is kind of complex although there is only one way of saying what we want to say. I stuck in this way of thiking after reading all of the comments posted here. All of us describe, expressed, feel, and interprete, our toughts after watching a film in so different ways. I even found myself connecting with some of the toughts written by answering back. But this reflection comes when I read the comments that I didn't agred with. Perhaps the beauty of communication in any way is to be able to be ourselves and express with honestly our toughts, otherwise, our listeners will be confused about what we are telling and will probably missunderestood our main point. That's why each time I read a piece of written, I try to find a connection with your toughts and try to underestand who you are and why are you saying in your writings. So far by holding this online discussion, I have been learned to listen, not just those with whom I agree but those with whom I do not. I found out that in this way I can approach and learn more from those who may will pushing my life forward. That is a chance for me to meet the other side of the coin which is also important because without that side, the coin doesn't have any value. We can cash it anywhere. Both sides are the equal importance and has only one value. We found ourselves holding up from one hand when we know two will make us stronger. All of us are equaly important and have the right to express ourselves in the way we can. Thank you to those who have been posting and letting yourselves expossed in some way becasue at the end that's the only way the sun with hit our skin and give us light into our lifes.
I hope we all keep doing this online discussion. I think it is a great way of expressing ourselves and bring the opportunity to listen the voice of others from whom we can find a connection.
!!!!!!Have a great spring brake!!!
I do think crash was an interesting moive and all that kevin said i do agree. that movie was a mix of diffrent twist with just enough to not over due it.....
hey richard
i agrees with u but i think scarface is a lil deeper than just him coming from nothing. its about how he came from another country with the hopes to become rich and have a chance. were he came up of the cocaine business. as u watch the movie he turns out doing alot of his own drug and starts to get slopy with his business and as his usage growes the closer to the end he came. ther very ppl who put the cocain in his possesion murdered him ...
Apocalypto is a strong impacted movie I believe it has a lot of language. This
Movie is about the Maya civilization that was so sophisticated. The part that
Catches my attention is when this strong civilization takes over a smaller mayan
Civilization and treats them like slaves so they could work hard and get whip.
Apocalypto is a really strong and sad movie.
one of my favorite movie
I believe The Curious Case of Benjamin Button relates to language. And
That’s because the treat a man who is born in his eighties and ages
backwards. And the way a parent could hate the way there children
is born with a disorder that the dad has the guts to give his child away.
Either way, the loves he finds the joys of life and the sadness of death.
He lives a great life.
have you ever seen ace ventura pet detective
that movie is so hilarious. its about how Ace has contacts with animals. He feels that the animals understand him , as he understands them. its so cool how animals get so adapted to you and understand how you feel.its really important to show love for any animal, becuase as we have feeling and heart, thats how they feel also. this movie is the best.
i have seen this movie. it is very funny. and yes i feel the same way pets do know how people feel. when you are really close to your pets you have a connection like if they were your babies. like i use to have a dog and he always knew when i was upset and what to do to make me feel better, which was bit my brothers feet. i miss him.
yes i complety agree with paloma
we should continue doing this online discussion.
i mean im not doing this just to get credit, but i enjoy reading peoples opinion n thoughs about things.its way to express yourself about something that you want to express to the whole world. i mean if stop doing this, then it will be hard for us to communicate to people in the future, so lets keep this running guys.
LUZ_RAMOS
I AGREE WITH YOU ITS A BOND THAT YOU CAN LET GO UNTIL THEY LEAVE TO HEAVEN. I MEAN THATS WHY THERES A REASON THAT THEY LIVE IN YOUR HOUSE IS BC THERE PART OF THE FAMILY. I UNDERSTAND BECAUSE MY SISTER HAS HER OWN DOG AND SHE LOVES MORE THAN ME. BUT I MEAN ANIMALS NEED ALOT OF ATTENTION IN MANY WAYS.
HEY,luz_ramos
I havent seen the movie "ace ventura pet detective" but it's true that pets do know how people feel. I used to have a dog that every time i cried he would sit in front of me stared at me,and with his paw he would wipe the tears out of my face.
yeah your right paloma every movie can communicate with its viewers in a variety of ways n then its up to us da way we connect wit the message of the film or wit a certain character in the film. For example i might be able to connect to one of the characters while u dont n u can connect with another character dat i feel i dont connect wit. This is just one of the things we dont expect from a movie.you will never go to a movie thinking how will i b able to connect wit dis movie but dats exactly wat happens. i just saw knowing this week and well i didnt find anyway to connect to dis movie but my friend did especially wit the ending because it had to do wit angels, heaven and the bible n he is a christian so he was very into dat part of the movie. we all have our different ways of how we interpret things but a movie can really affect a decision we make in life if we see a character in the movie make the same decision.
in the day the earth stood still you can say that the type of language the movie uses reflects fear and regret. in real life humans are wasting the earth's resources without any consent to the consequences. in this movie this fact of human wastefulness is reflected and an alien species decides to intervene to save the earth. the people only began to fear for their life’s and regret the fact that they had many opportunities to change their ways but never acted. they needed to have their lives threatened by the aliens so that they could realize the path they were on needed to be corrected....
sandy i know its kinda late but i just saw the movie Marley and Me and i understand what you are trying to say about how the worst dog can bring a family together this movie is funny, sad and heart warming..marley had his ups and downs and if it wasnt for him they would have never had the family they had. i had a dog too, he was my first dog and i only had him for 4 months and he died and now i really miss him and ever since he died i have not gotten another dog or i havent gotten attached to any dog. the movie marley and me has different kinds and ways of language..
over the week i saw this movie call
SIN NOMBRE
its about
this gang member from the M.S 17 murders his gang's leader, a teenager joins a family of Honduran immigrants making the dangerous journey After murdering his gang's leader, a teenager joins a family of Honduran immigrants making the dangerous journey. I love the movie
ok im back.lol
well over the past 2 weeks....i have seen more than 7 movies...and the one that really caught my attention was the movie "Obsessed". Well for those who have not seen it yet...you should really go and watch it...But I mean really...Like it's a must!Well yea it's basically about (HUGE *SPOILER) a young temp worker who finds this one guy very attractive and becomes obsessed with him, sneaking into the guy restroom and trying to you know. Well then his wife finds out and you have to figure out the rest.
Well what i thought the movie was trying to say is that. Sometimes there are good and bad reasons to lie. But if you have too lie to save yourself from something horrible then you should. It's very hard to lie when your married because you cannot lie to them, you make a promise to them before you get married. Obsession is a big thing is this world and everyone must be obsessed with someone or even something. There are possibilities that the obsessed person kills his/her victim because the victim may have already be taken by someone else. It was very difficult at first for me to understand the movie. I had to watch it twice. Well now i understand the movie..and kinda reminded me of someone that was obsessed with my ex-girlfriend 2 years ago. He kept on writing her and leaving them in her locker. He use to always call her and hang out. It wasn't cool I was scared cause i thought something bad was going to happen to her. They caught the guy and he was an Ex-boyfriend of hers. Well yea i was mad..like furious...because she would tell me that she didnt know the guy and she told me after they caught him that she knew it was him. Well that's all i have for this movie.. Go watch it its great!
i really enjoyed watching obssesed and it was a really good movie. the reason i say this is because it has alot of tensions between the the married husband and the white girl that works for him.
what really caught my attention was that how she never gave up in liking this guy. she insisted for him to like him but he wasent interested, but only thought that she was attracted.
i mean being obssesed over something could sometimes be kind of wierd. the reason i say this is because i mean, if the person tries everyday to be really attached to you, leaving you notes, having nude pictures, and so fourth could be kind of strange. i mean i would of mind, but it sometimes trips someone out. i just beleive people gotta watch carefully wat there obssesed with. you never know what kind of things might happen
Hi guys,
a few hours ago i just watched the movie Push. It's a really great movie, there will be a time that you wont understnad whats going on, but you will find out if you watch it a second time. It's always good to watch a movie the 2nd time around because you will feel more meaning to it.
Well my point is that this movie caught my attention very much. It kinda brought me into the movie and thinking that i was one of the characters in there trying to help them out as well. It may seem in the real world that people usually don't have super powers, but what i really think is that we all have these kind of powers. Think whatever you people like, we all have certain different abilities that we can control at some point, but then at the same time you can't control it cause something bothers you inside of yourself, leaving you thinking that something is wrong. This movie has soo many different views that watching each character makes you want to help them out in the situation they get into. Sometimes it's really frustating because you can't help them out, but when you think about it, there is nothing you can do to alter what they have to accomplish and knowing that it is just a movie not a real life situation.
I may sound confused in a way, but i know some of you will understand what im trying to say. Viewers have many different aspects to what they can see in a film, but this movie brought out alot of powerful breath taking situations, that in real life without your super powers, you won't be able to survive it.
p.s.
WATCH THE MOVIE IF YOU HAVENT SEEN IT YET!
"The Language of Film"
The word Language "is a system for encoding and decoding information; communication by voice; any system of formulized symbols, signs, sounds, gestures or the like used or conceived as a means of communicating thought, emotion, etc.," I give a variety of meanings because language is just that- a variety of culture, humans, pets, computer, clothing, styles, mathmetics, and the list goes on, all having their own unique language.
The language of film provides the audience with visual creativity produced through the mind then ejected or expressed through words by stories, movies, documentaries etc.
the languge of flim can be a huge part of people's vocabulary and also people can be in pacted by what you many see on tv or in the movies or when you are talking to a friend or family
understanding the languge of flim helps people talk to eachother and understand eachother more
About the art of movieI like to watch movie for its ability to bring to the audience information
concerning any topic, as fictional and non-fictional. By watching movies you can improve your imagination, concentration and develop the art of your own creative thinking. We don’t just watching movie. We investigate the events and characters. Especially, I love the symbolic language in the view of using the pictures of nature. As the example of such language can be taken in the created by Japanies movie maker Kurosova. In his movies
people talk little, but express their deep thinking in the way of using their way of communication .
